Here’s to 50 Years of Global Growth

It’s hard to believe that what started as a small Swedish engineering firm 50 years ago has grown into a global leader in climate control for commercial vehicles. Over the decades, Mobile Climate Control (MCC) has expanded into new markets, introduced cutting-edge technologies, and continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of the industries we serve. But through it all, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to smarter, more efficient mobile climate solutions.
“This 50-year milestone isn’t just a celebration of where we’ve been, it’s a stepping stone to where we’re going,” says Petter Hedman, CIO at MCC, who has been employed with the company for the last 14 years. “We’re investing in smarter manufacturing, stronger global infrastructure, and advanced technologies to ensure MCC remains the industry leader for decades to come.”
As we celebrate this journey, let’s take a look back at the key moments that have shaped MCC into the company it is today.
From Sweden to the World
MCC’s journey has been one of continuous growth and adaptation. From its early years as a specialized climate solutions provider, the company quickly expanded, establishing a strong presence in North America by 1983. This foundation set the stage for global expansion, with MCC acquiring key companies and extending its footprint across Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Asia.
By the 2000s, MCC had become a multinational leader, integrating advanced engineering expertise across its operations. The company’s manufacturing facility in Toronto, Canada, became an industry benchmark, providing customers with real-world climate testing on full-scale vehicle models.

Pioneering Industry-Changing Solutions
Inspired by the philosophy, "You can’t control the weather, but you can control the climate," MCC has remained focused on what we do best: achieving precision temperature control in any environment. Our mission is to develop future-ready thermal management technologies that help our customers meet the evolving demands of the commercial vehicle industry.

Innovating for Alternative Powertrains
As electric, hybrid, and hydrogen powertrains gain momentum, we have reimagined how we design and engineer our HVAC-R systems. This shift has placed a greater emphasis on reducing HVAC energy consumption and ensuring battery thermal regulation, regardless of whether a vehicle runs on a conventional engine or an alternative power source.
Intelligent Climate Control for Autonomous Vehicles
The rise of autonomous vehicle technology is changing the way climate control systems operate. Our intelligent climate control solutions integrate seamlessly with next-generation vehicle architectures, optimizing cabin environments without human input. Additionally, our expertise in high-voltage battery thermal management is enhancing the safety, efficiency, and lifespan of electric vehicle powertrains.
What’s Next for MCC?
With more growth on the horizon, we are working on consolidating our North American operations by merging three Toronto-based facilities into a single state-of-the-art location in Brampton, set to open in 2027. Meanwhile, we are moving ahead with plans to expand our Poland factory to support increased demand and streamline logistics. Additionally, with the acquisition of Italytec, we are increasing our focus and resources in Brazil, strengthening our presence in the region and enhancing our ability to serve customers with advanced climate control solutions all over the world.
As we celebrate five decades of progress, we remain focused on the future, investing in the next generation of climate solutions that will shape the industry for years to come. Here’s to the next 50!
